The Chiclets brand, with the collaboration of the Iman Advertising Agency and Tedexis, recently launched a mobile campaign entitled "Thumb Wars", where young people can compete for different prizes including Blackberry Javelins, iPod Shuffles, a MacBook Pro, and a Nintendo Wii, among other prizes. The contest consists of virtual play rooms where a word will appear on the screen, and registered participants compete by typing that word into their cell phones and sending vía SMS. Whoever sends the correctly spelled word first to the number indicated, gains points. Accumulating these points is what lets contestants advance in the competition, each time competing for better prizes.
With this campaign Chiclets hopes to capture the attention of a young audience, who are heavy cell phone users, and whose primary means of communication is vía SMS.
